After he descends the steps of his plane, the camera follows him, and the viewer gets a glimpse of the air strip beyond, which is largely empty. So who was the former vice president waving to? Does he see something that the rest of us don’t? Or maybe he was just assuming that the cameraman would provide a tighter shot to make it look as though he had been greeted by a welcoming committee.

Whatever the explanation, the effect is reminiscent of the one Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez achieved when she visited the southern border in 2019 to see firsthand the abysmal conditions in which migrant children were being forced to live under the tyrannical Trump administration.
Here she is in her acting debut, doubled over with grief at the deplorable conditions … in which an SUV is parked? As you can see from the wider-angle shots, the only thing on the other side of the chain-link fence is a parked car. The closeup shots of her grief-contorted face and the fence are the only ones that were meant to go public.
