Is Joe Biden reading scripted answers to questions from the media at news conferences?

Joe Biden still isn’t campaigning — at least not in the conventional sense. Sure, he’s held a couple of news conferences. But even these have been “bidened down” by a press willing to do its part to help him defeat the evil Orange Man in November.

But precisely how cooperative have the media been? Are they engaging in something deeper and frankly more sinister than merely lobbing the candidate softballs? That is, are they providing the Biden campaign with an ordered list of the questions they intend to ask?

A couple of clues suggest this is more than mere conspiracy theorizing. First is the strange question the former vice president asked his staff at the outset of a press conference in Wilmington last Friday.“Are you calling on people?” he asked. “I don’t have a list.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

List? What list? A list of reporters and the order in which Biden is to field their questions? If not, what was he referring to?

Then there’s the equally peculiar fact of his using a teleprompter at press conferences. In the video below, you can hear him instruct his staff to reposition the teleprompter (“move it up here”), then taking a noticeable pause before answering a question Skyped in to a union town hall. Is this further confirmation that the questions — and his own “spontaneous” answers —are there on the screen, waiting to be read?

It’s one thing for the Left to go out of their way to ignore Biden’s conspicuous age-related slowdown. It wasn’t that long ago, when their hopes were pinned on a younger, genuinely more radical candidate, that Democrats and the media freely commented on Biden’s cognitive decline. But now that he is their nominee, it is inexcusable to assist him in pinning on the training wheels whenever he leaves his basement.
