Dems warn of delays in social security checks if mail bill not passed: Just one problem

It’s currently number one on the Democrats’ hit parade of things to whine about. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi argued the point in a Dear Democratic Colleague letter stating “The Postal Service is a pillar of our democracy, enshrined in the Constitution and essential for providing critical services: delivering prescriptions, Social Security benefits, paychecks, tax returns and absentee ballots to millions of Americans, including in our most remote communities.”

The next paragraph is a full frontal assault on the president, who, she claims is attempting to “sabotage the election by manipulating the Postal Service to disenfranchise voters.”

Naturally, the situation is not as simple as that. It never is. Even on the issue of mail-in voting, which the Democrats refuse to debate, the party of no is choosing to bury its head in the sand. For one thing, scientists have found no connection between long lines and the spread of COVID-19. For another, in the last four national elections 28 million mail-in ballots went missing. But the Democrats have made their minds up, and they are trying to convince the American people that the problem here, as usual, is exclusively Orange Man Bad.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

It is worth pointing out that in Pelosi’s grandiose declaration that the U.S. Postal Service is a “pillar of our democracy,” she commits a glaring error. One of the ways in which, she argues, Americans are being deprived thanks to Trump’s cruelty is via the non-delivery of Social Security checks.  The only problem is that the Social Security Administration (SSA) stopped mailing out paper checks in 2013. Benefits are now deposited directly into the recipient’s bank account.

Pelosi is not the only member of Congress to make this mistake. Rep. Maxine Waters is guilty of the same faux pas.

So, remarkably, is the Democrat under whose own administration the SSA’s practice of mailing checks was discontinued:

But the real cherry on the sundae is a comment he made about the U.S. Postal Service when he was still commander in chief.

It’s also worth recalling that under the Obama administration,  thousands of USPS collection boxes were removed.
