Joe Biden’s one-on-one with “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski was clearly more hard-hitting than the presumptive Democratic nominee had figured it would be. When she continued to hammer away at the disconnect between what he said during the Kavanaugh scandal and what he is saying now, Biden became flustered and began running his words together:

Because the facts are, look. She — I’m not suggesting she had no right to come forward, and I never — I’m not saying — any woman, they should come forward and they should be heard, and then it should be investigated.

But to correct any misconception that the MSNBC Hosts aren’t still in bed Biden, Brzezinski’s husband, Joe Scarborough, came on after the interview to lob softball questions about how the former vice president would better handle the coronavirus.

Unfortunately for all of them, Biden returned to his typical gaffe-prone self, declaring that 600,000 Americans had died of COVID-19. The actual number of deaths is closer to 65,000. Initially, Scarborough attempted to gloss over the glaring error, but when Biden repeated the number, he felt impelled to intervene.

A video appears below, followed by a transcript.

Joe Biden: Over 600,000 dead. Many of them are people who those — those — those workers, those nurses, doctors, some of them, because they have put themselves in a position to save other people’s lives, protect the rest of society. And we talk about that number, like 600-plus thousand people—

Joe Scarborough [intruding]: Sixty thousand. [Overtalking]

Biden: Yeah, six — sixty thousand. I — I —I —I — I misspoke — 60,000. …

As the ever-alert Nancy Pelosi observed in Biden’s defense several days ago, “Joe Biden is Joe Biden.”

More’s the pity.
