This one comes to us courtesy of LU contributor Mike Dorstewitz, who reacted on Twitter to a comment by MSNBC’s Joy Reid, who fell from grace briefly in 2018 when Mediaite unearthed a treasure trove of anti-gay and anti-Muslim posts at her now-defunct blog “The Reid Report.”

While this would register as a permanent black mark on the record of any conservative, Reid was promptly welcomed back to the fold and even hailed as a hero after repenting her sins on air — well, kind of:

I genuinely do not believeI wrote those hateful things … [b]ut I can definitely understand, based on things I have tweeted and I have written in the past, why some people don’t believe me. I have not [sic] exempt from being cruel or hurtful to the very people I want to advocate for. I own that. I get it. And for that I am truly, truly sorry.

Which brings us back to her tweet this morning. The message was little more than a shot across the bow at Donald Trump. But get a load of what Reid considers shenanigans. Acknowledging that the president did indeed authorize a $1,200 stimulus check for nearly every American family, Reid warned:

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

BTW you all realize that check Treasury is sending you with Trump’s name scribbled on it is your money, right? It’s your tax dollars that congress appropriated. Trump is basically the guy who “lends” you back your own lawnmower he borrowed and has had at his house for months…

So Reid just figured out at the ripe age of 51 that the government has no money of its own? She could have looked less foolish (though not by much) if she had held back on the dig at the president. Every dime issued by the federal government, regardless of who is president, comes from a communal till funded exclusively by tax dollars. If Reid gets a tax refund this year or any year, she will be receiving “tax dollars that Congress appropriated.”

One might say “Better late, then never” but you can count on the far-left Reid to revert to her pre-coronavirus ignorance once the country opens for business once again.
