Does Joe Biden think the young man pictured above is somehow behind the deadly pandemic that is sweeping across the globe?
The photo is of Lu Han (also spelled “Luhan”), a Chinese singer and actor who was formerly a member of a South Korean-Chinese boy band known as Exo.
He looks harmless enough. But the former vice president in his latest “shadow briefing” from his Delaware home seems to identify him as the source of the virus. Watch:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
The coronavirus originated in Wuhan, China.
Joe Biden just referred to it as the "Luhan" virus.
He has no clue what we're fighting.
This comes after he mixed up the coronavirus with SARS. pic.twitter.com/OkA5WjKnj1

Biden’s recommendation — that the coronavirus be called the “Luhan” virus — comes on the heels of a national scandal in which Donald Trump referred to it as the “Chinese virus,” for its country of origin. A storm of protest followed, along with charges that the president was being his typically xenophobic self.
Biden’s suggestion, even if he managed to pronounce the name “Wuhan” right, still identifies the pathogen with the city in China where the first cases were diagnosed. I’m not sure how calling it that is any less xenophobic than Trump’s appellation, but I doubt the Democrats are going to come down hard on their own candidate, even though he is committing the same transgression.
