Liberals in this country would be nothing if they weren’t hypocrites. How else to explain their reaction to Pres. Trump’s announcement last week that he was granting clemency to two Army officers accused of war crimes?
Trump gave full pardons to Army First Lt. Clint Lorance, who had served six years of a 19-year sentence, and Green Beret Maj. Mathew Golsteyn, who was facing trial for killing an alleged Taliban bombmaker. A third man, Navy SEAL Edward R. Gallagher, was granted clemency and restoration of his rank.
Among those to hurl stones were two Democratic presidential candidates. South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, tweeted:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
There’s nothing pro-military about overruling our military justice system to prevent it from delivering accountability for war crimes. The president has again dishonored our armed services.

But the bitterest irony came in a tweet by Joe Biden, who wrote:
Trump's intervention in the American military justice system to pardon service members accused or convicted of war crimes betrays the rule of law, the values that make our country exceptional & the men and women who wear the uniform honorably. He is not fit to command our troops.

Has Biden — or for that matter Buttigieg — forgotten that Barack Obama granted clemency to five ranking members of the Afghan Taliban in May of 2014? It was only a little more than five years ago when Obama announced that he had transferred five Guantanamo Bay detainees (the so-called “Gitmo Five”) to Qatar in exchange for the release of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, a deserter? The war crimes of these five included mass murder and cooperation with the terrorist network al Qaeda.
Where was Biden’s outrage at this former boss for freeing men who had committed crimes against humanity?
