VIDEO: Pelosi on impeachment, then and now
Nancy Pelosi (Image: Twitter screen grab)

One of our Twitter followers dug up this oldie but goody dated Dec. 18, 1998. The topic of this floor speech by Rep. Nancy Pelosi is the impeachment of the president by a minority who, she claims, is motivated not by a search for “fairness” but a “vengeance” for impeachment.

What makes the video so striking is that if someone went through and replaced the words Republican with Democrat and Clinton with Trump, it could pass for an impassioned argument against today’s impeachment circus for which Pelosi is “point man.”

Consider gems like this:

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

In the investigation of the president, fundamental principles which Americans hold dear — privacy, fairness, checks and balances — have been seriously violated. And why? We are here today because Republicans in the House are paralyzed with hatred.

(Notice, parenthetically, that Pelosi was tripping over her words even then, when the now-speaker was only 58.)
