On Thursday, Ilhan Omar, the anti-Semitic, America-hating, terrorist-sympathizing Democrat from Minnesota, issued a tweet blaming Donald Trump for the “death” of a nine-month-old baby, claiming the child died because of cuts to Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

“A nine month old died as a direct result of Trump’s cuts to Medicaid and CHIP,” the freshman congresswoman wrote. “He is one of a million children to lose healthcare.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

There’s only one problem. The child referenced in the report Omar cities never died. According to the Times article, the baby, named Elijah, was rushed to a Houston hospital after his lips turned blue from lack of oxygen. He was admitted to intensive care with a respiratory virus, made a fully recovery, and was released.

The story gets better. The reason the child had no health care coverage had nothing to do with any program cuts. It was because the mother didn’t get the necessary paperwork submitted in time:

For Ms. Johnson, Elijah’s stay at Texas Children’s Hospital led to an appointment with an enrollment counselor who helped her try to figure out what had happened. Trying to re-enroll her older children earlier this year, she was asked for proof of income and missed the 10-day window to provide it; that may be why Texas dropped Elijah from Medicaid even though he qualified because he was a baby.

And if that’s not enough to convert Omar’s outrage at the Trump administration into a nothingburger, the news that the child is now covered will. In other words, Omar lied. Big time. But then again, we’ve come to expect that from her.
