Judging from the “success” of Beto O’Rourke’s gun confiscation bid, we can safely conclude that the Texan is enjoying his last hurrah as a 2020 presidential candidate. But in case you thought you had witnessed the “dumbest pol trick” of the 2020 election season, be prepared for the latest stunt.

The Daily Caller has the details:

While speaking before a left-wing Latino audience, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders pledged to end immigration raids and impose a “moratorium” on all deportations.

“We are going to end the ICE raids that are terrorizing communities all across this country,” Sanders said Saturday in Las Vegas, according to footage flagged by the Republican National Committee. “We are going to impose a moratorium on deportations. And we are going to, as I mentioned — and there are some things that a president can do with executive orders and some things you can’t.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

It’s not clear from the last statement whether or not banning deportation is something Sanders believes a president can do via executive order, but he might want to run the plan past a more inclusive cross-section of Democratic voters before making it a talking point of his campaign. The group he was addressing, Mijente, “describes itself not just as a movement for Latinos, but also a ‘pro-Black, pro-woman, pro-queer, pro-poor’ group that actively promotes anti-ICE activities.” In short, it is hardly representative of the party as a whole.

The Vermont senator also announced his plan to provide illegals with government-funded health care and a free college education. He may want to check the national polls on these policies as well.
