Israel bans Omar and Tlaib, accused of implementing Trump’s ‘Muslim ban’

Facts mean little to Congress’s newest Muslim members, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib. Shortly after arriving in the House, Tlaib modified a map of the Middle East by affixing a Post-it note over Israel that she had labeled “Palestine.”

But Omar has been the far more flagrant offender when it comes to a total disregard for the facts. She has falsely claimed that Donald Trump’s ban on travel to the U.S. from nations that harbor terrorists is a ban on Muslims. And now that she and Tlaib have been barred from setting foot in Israel, she has jumped to the equally spurious conclusion that “Trump’s Muslim ban is what Israel is implementing, this time against two duly elected Members of Congress.”

In her view, the ban has nothing to with the plethora of blatantly anti-Semitic sentiments she has expressed on the floor of the House or with Tlaib’s advice that gets a “calming feeling” when thinking about the Holocaust.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

So what is the real reason for Israel’s decision to pull the welcome mat for two Congress members? ABC News reports:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement Thursday that the congresswomen’s itinerary showed “their intent is to hurt Israel” and that he backed a decision by Israel’s interior minister to block their entry.

Netanyahu joined several Israeli ministers in deciding to bar them based on an Israeli law that allows authorities to deny entry to people who have backed the “boycott, sanctions and divestment” (BDS) movement against Israel, the country’s foreign ministry said in a statement. “The decision was made after [Israel’s Interior] Minister [Aryeh] Deri realized boycott activities were planned against Israel and that they should be prevented from entering Israel, in accordance with the provisions of the Israeli Entry Law,” the ministry said.

Omar of course introduced a pro-BDS resolution in the House in July, but in her myopic, hate-filled view, Israel is simply discriminating against two more Muslims.
