The comment, delivered in support of an argument for eliminating ICE, was made by presidential hopeful Julian Castro, who shrugged off a complaint last week by a woman who said her Social Security Number had been stolen by an illegal alien with the simple-minded observation that “crime happens.”
Castro’s claim about the state of security along the southern border was made Tuesday during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Live with Velshi and Ruhle.” Castro was asked by anchor Stephanie Ruhle asked:
If [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] were to be broken up, how would you deal with the millions of undocumented immigrants already here and those who are crossing the border, the thousands who are crossing the border?
Castro’s reply?
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
I would make sure that we maintain border security and I believe that our border is as secure as it ever has been. I would ensure that we maintain it. But secondly, I would treat people with compassion and common sense, and not with cruelty. [Emphasis added]
But thanks to new and improved methods like “The Conveyor Belt,” illegal aliens are now infiltrating the nation via the southern border faster that the Border Patrol can deport them.
But of course Castro neither believes his claim about the state of border security nor wants the borders to be all that secure. Like other Democrats, he welcomes the flood of illegals, counting on them to cancel out, if not overwhelm, the “Deplorables” when it comes time to vote. That is why he never actually answered Ruhle’s question about “the millions of undocumented immigrants already here and those who are crossing the border, the thousands who are crossing the border.”
