Socialist privilege? AOC violates First Amendment, blocks conservative blogger on Twitter
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Last May, we reported that Clinton-nominated U.S. District Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald ruled that President Trump can’t block leftist trolls on Twitter, citing the First Amendment. It seems Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the newly-elected Democratic Socialist from New York dubbed a “pompous little twit” by Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore, did the exact same thing President Trump did and blocked The Daily Wire’s Ryan Saavedra.

On Friday, Saavedra notes on Twitter:

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

According to Twitchy, the move took place after Ocasio-Cortez addressed Al Sharpton’s National Action Network, using an accent that reminded many of Hillary Clinton.

Saavedra called Ocasi0-Cortez out for it, suggesting it was rather racist of her to address a largely black audience the way she did.

Did Ocasio-Cortez exercise her liberal privilege? Or was it her socialist privilege?

Remember, this is exactly what President Trump did. And a federal judge said he was violating the First Amendment rights of those he blocked.

“This case requires us to consider whether a public official may, consistent with the First Amendment, ‘block’ a person from his Twitter account in response to the political views that person has expressed, and whether the analysis differs because that public official is the President of the United States,” Judge Buchwald wrote in her decision against Trump. “The answer to both questions is no.”

Fox News also reported at the time:

In July 2017, Trump was sued by the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University in New York, along with seven individual Twitter users.

At the time, former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer noted in June 2017 that Trump’s tweets are official statements and the White House often sends out official statements everytime the President tweets.

Ocasio-Cortez’s Twitter account, which can be seen here, would appear to be quite similar in nature to President Trump’s, in that the New York socialist uses it to spread her radical, far-left ideas to the world at large.

Judge Buchwald also determined that, “We hold that portions of the @realDonaldTrump account — the ‘interactive space’ where Twitter users may directly engage with the content of the President’s tweets — are properly analyzed under the ‘public forum’ doctrines set forth by the Supreme Court, that such space is a designated public forum, and that the blocking of the plaintiffs based on their political speech constitutes viewpoint discrimination that violates the First Amendment.”

So, what’s the difference between President Trump’s account and the one used by Ocasio-Cortez? Except for the fact that one is a Republican and the other is not, nothing.

But then again, it’s not the first time Ocasio-Cortez violated the judge’s order.
