Back in November, shortly after the Democrats had gained control of the House in the midterms, Nancy Pelosi and fellow Democratic representative John Sarbanes published an op-ed in the Washington Post promising:
We will confront discrimination with the Equality Act, pass the Dream Act to protect the patriotic young undocumented immigrants who came here as children, and take the first step toward comprehensive immigration reform. [Emphasis added]
Since the new Congress opened for business on Jan. 3, however, the Democrats have been like kids in a poisonous candy store, gobbling down one toxic treat after another in a quest to seek vengeance on Donald Trump. Several have reintroduced articles of impeachment, while another has proposed replacing the Anti-Terrorism Subcommittee with a Trump-Investigating Subcommittee.
While Pelosi et al. have lost sight of their pledge to protect “patriotic young undocumented immigrants who came here as children,” said children have been busy. Three of them, all members of MS-13 who entered the country illegally as unaccompanied minors, attacked and stabbed a student who attended the same high school in broad daylight.
It happened on New York Avenue in Huntington Station around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The 16-year-old victim told police he was at the fast-food restaurant with friends when six of his classmates from Huntington High School entered and began staring at them menacingly.
Feeling uncomfortable, the victim and a friend left, and the three gang members followed them, wielding bats and knives, police said.
An altercation broke out in the parking lot, and that’s when 19-year-old Ramon Arevalo Lopez allegedly stabbed the victim in the back. Another 16-year-old boy suffered a minor injury in the fight.
The report doesn’t reveal much about the “altercation,” which other details suggest was pretty one-sided. It does reveal that the knifing victim suffered non-threatening injuries, though no thanks to the “patriotic” youth who attacked him.
All of the assailants are in police custody awaiting arraignment. Maybe Speaker Pelosi can adopt the three when they get out of prison.
