Mazie Hirono’s latest: Problem with Dems is they’re too smart for voters to understand

Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI), who briefly trained the spotlight on herself during the Kavanaugh hearings by suggesting that men should “shut up and step up,” is back with her latest insult. This one is directed tangentially at her fellow Democrats in Congress for being too cerebral but primarily at American at large for being stupid to understand the Democrats’ message.

Here she is telling one of those morons, who nods compliantly:

I have been saying at all our Senate Democratic retreats that we need to speak to the heart not in a manipulative way, not in a way that brings forth everybody’s fears and resentments but truly to speak to the heart so people know that we’re actually on their side. We have a really hard time doing that, and one of the reasons that was told to me at one of our retreats is that we Democrats know so much: That is true. Now we have to kind of tell everybody how smart we are, and so we have a tendency to be very left-brain [inaudible] and really that is not how people make decisions. …

While one is tempted to cite counterexamples to Hirono’s boastful claims (such as the finding of the National Opinion Research Center’s General Social Survey that only 48.6% of Democrats knew that the earth revolves the sun compared with 62.1% of Republicans). But sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words:
