Sauce for the goose.
On Saturday, Vemont CBS affiliate WCAX reported that state police are investigating a death threat mailed to Deserae Morin, a Republican woman running for the state House of Representatives.
Morin posted a photo on Facebook of the threat she received, which was done up in grade B movie cut-and-paste fashion. It read: “C*nt, we are hunting you. My comrades will kill you and the Constitution. First, we will rape you for days. You will scream and know that agonizing horror. No equal rights for republicans. Socialism is here. Open season for Republican death in Vermont. Fear our revolution. AA. It’s time”
It is interesting that the authors of the note emphasize their commitment to “killing the Constitution,” which seems like a logical extension of the Left’s desire in the last two years to repeal the First and Second Amendments.
“I’m very outspoken,” Morin told WCAX. “I’m a real threat to socialism, and now socialism is a real threat to me. I’m trying not to take it too seriously, because it’s most likely, it’s just an empty threat.”
The station added:
Morin is staying vigilant for her family. State Police have opened an investigation and Morin says there is also an internal Post Office task force looking into the letter. She says she also fears for her young female supporters.
“I’m not comfortable asking them to come out anymore because I don’t want to be responsible for somebody else getting hurt. I feel like I have to protect them now,” Morin said.
Morin believes being a republican woman may be a factor in the threats.
“It’s like ‘how dare you?'” Morin observed. “I’m a traitor to their ideology. Like they just assume because I’m young and I’m female that automatically I should be leftist and I’m not and that makes people really mad at me.”
