This is the best news you’ll hear all day and perhaps for months and even years to come. DNC Chairman Tom Perez appeared on The Bill Press Show. The subject of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez came up. Last week the Democratic Socialist defeated 10-term Congressman Joe Crowley in the Democratic primary for New York’s 14th congressional district.

Since the upset, the 28-year-old Ocasio-Cortez, who despite her populist leanings grew up in one of America’s wealthiest counties, has been in the headlines. One story reported that one of her campaign aides was a rabid anti-Semite, while another quoted her as claiming — wrongly — that illegal immigration was not criminalized before 1999.

A number of liberal pundits and politicians have stated that Ocasio-Cortez is nothing more than a fringe candidate who won a primary for unexplained reasons. But Perez sees her potential. In fact, he told Press during their interview that she “is the future of our party,” referring to the Democrats.

Here’s hoping Perez’s forecast is accurate!
