The inspector general’s report released yesterday dotted some the i‘s and crossed some the of t‘s in texts by FBI agents that had previously been redacted. One especially revealing text was written by the now-infamous Peter Strzok in response to an almost prayerful question by his lover and FBI attorney Lisa Page, which read “[Trump’s] not ever going to become president, right? Right?!” Strzok’s answer: “No. No he won’t. We’ll stop it.” It’s unclear who we refers to, but Strzok’s political bias rings out loud and clear.

Texts by other agents are included in the report as well. Many of them express a similarly low opinion of then-presidential candidate Donald Trump, but others share equally low opinions of Americans who might pull the lever for Trump. According to Fox News:

The Justice Department inspector general has referred five FBI employees for investigation in connection with politically charged texts, revealing in its report on the Hillary Clinton email case that more bureau officials than previously thought were exchanging anti-Trump messages.

[…]

Some of these text messages and instant messages … raised concerns that political bias may have impacted investigative decisions.

That’s putting it mildly. One text called Trump supporters “retarded.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Here’s another exchange that speaks volumes:

The report notes that the FBI will handle the referral of these five agents pursuant to the agency’s “disciplinary investigation and adjudication processes, and will impose disciplinary measures as warranted.”

Really you feel warm and fuzzy all over about the agency whose job is to keep you saf, doesn’t it?
