A story out of San Francisco will enrage dog lovers and all humans who hold the sanctity of life dear. The players in this immorality play are a Puppet — Chihuahua and Jack Russell mix — and a cretin who thinks that violence can solve even the smallest of life’s problems.
The problem in this case was that the dog, out with its owner but off its leash, ran up to the man and began yapping at him as he walked down the street. Rather than simply ignoring the pooch, the man kicked it to shut it up. When that didn’t work and the dog returned, the man again punted it, this time hard enough to send it flying into a wall, after which the dog lay still slumped on the ground in a small heap.
CBS San Francisco affiliate KPIX reports that the assailant ran off and is now being sought by police. As for the dog, a kind-hearted police officer drove the animal to a vet in his police car rather than lose precious moments waiting for animal care and control to arrive.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
The dog’s owner, Lynda Coburn, is homeless but told reporters that the owners of the building outside which the incident took place have agreed to pay the pup’s medical bills.
Says Coburn, who’s had the four-year-old hybrid since he was a puppy, “I’m devastated, you know? He’s my everything,” Now all that remains for her is to pray that the pooch survives his injuries.
A video of the incident captured from a surveillance camera follows, beginning at 00:23. Be advised: It may be disturbing to watch.
