Care to see what the ugly underbelly of liberal thought looks like when it’s taken to its extreme?
If so, say hello to former Manhattan prosecutor and longtime defense attorney Scott Fenstermaker, who has proclaimed the Islamic terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 to be “one of the greatest events in human history.” He added that the nation “got what it deserved” because of past injustices and had praise for the 19 hijackers who killed 3,000 Americans.
It’s not as though he whispered this deranged thought to his closest confidante either. Instead, he broadcast it on Facebook:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
New York’s Daily News calls Fenstermaker “deranged,” adding that “[i]n his time as a defense lawyer, he represented Al Qaeda terrorists Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, who bombed two U.S. embassies in Africa in 1998, and another defendant charged as a 9/11 participant.”
But the paper also notes that the former prosecutor downplays criticism directed at him, saying, “I don’t believe there are that many people that are upset [by my comments].”
As for his congressional ambitions, I would guess in light of Bernie Sanders’s success that Fenstermaker’s chances of making it are good.
