During his recent visit to Long Island, President Trump joined members of federal law enforcement, local elected officials, and police commissioners to discuss ways of dealing effectively with the scourge that is the machete-wielding gang MS-13.
Also on hand were the families of victims of the gang — including the parents of local teens Kayla Cuevas and Nisa Mickens whose badly mutilated bodies were discovered in a wooded area in 2016. All were there to attest to the lasting scars they bear, knowing the pain and suffering their children endured prior to being executed.
According to WABC, the gang is responsible for 25 deaths in Long Island’s Nassau Country alone, and the Trump administration has made neutralizing the threat of more senseless deaths. “We are taking them out by the thousands,” the president said at one point, poignantly adding, “We can’t have children killing children anymore.”
Not everyone present at the venue was there to mourn the loss or offer constructive solutions. Outside the venue, immigrant rights activists congregated, arguing that the MS-13 problem can’t be solved by simply arresting people. “We know that it is not just law enforcement, not deportation, and not profiling the way we see here on Long Island,” one protester is quoted as saying.
Like others present, this man was conflating gang members with other immigrants, perhaps buying into the manufactured media narrative that Trump’s labeling of the gang as “animals” was intended as a slur on all immigrants.
It might benefit these protesters to spend a moment or two reading a document released by the White House on Monday titled “What You Need To Know About The Violent Animals Of MS-13.” Here are two of the more graphic paragraphs from the document:
In Maryland, MS-13’s animals are accused of stabbing a man more than 100 times and then decapitating him, dismembering him, and ripping his heart out of his body. Police believe MS-13 members in Maryland also savagely beat a 15-year-old human trafficking victim. The MS-13 animals used a bat and took turns beating her nearly 30 times in total.
In Houston, Texas, two MS-13 members were charged after kidnapping and sexually assaulting one girl and murdering another. The two MS-13 animals laughed, smiled, and waved for cameras in court as they faced the charges.
It would take a very twisted mind to argue that people like this should not be rounded up at the very least.
