Not everyone mad at Chuck Schumer over his pulling the plug on the government shutdown after two days vented their frustration by protesting outside his Brooklyn apartment.
Some took to social media where the left one-star reviews for the Democratic senator from New York.
One person wrote:
No one answers the phone! Because he a politician who doesn’t care about the people. Tell me Schumer! what was you last job before your tenure in the senate. Let be honest his staff is overwhelmed with calls! He needs to be replaced with individual who will cooperate with the current administration in Washington. Remember his staff are just employees doing their job. They probably will be happy if he is replaced with accomplished individual. Not a unscrupulous politician.
Another reminded Schumer of what he himself had said about illegal immigration not so many years ago:
“people who enter the United States without our permission are illegal aliens and illegal aliens should not be treated the same as people who enter the US legally” – Chuck Schumer in 2009
A third wrote:
Do not bother calling this number- they do not even offer the courtesy of a messaging service, which I might suggest is an indication of how much Schumer really wants to hear from his constituents. Come his next election I am voting for a DSA candidate and if there isn’t one, I’ll write one in. Democratic leadership? Ha!
Some commenters didn’t hesitate to call a spade a spade:
The idiot just plays games with the Americans, just got my furlough because of this idiot and his left wing extremist minions shutting down the government Get out of office. Get out of America you scum Schumer.
There was also this:
Can’t believe you are leading the charge for a shut down!!!! How am I and others going to pay our bills? While you go on another vacation and cheat people out of money!!!! Disgraceful human who only cares about keeping yourself in office! You have never served the American people, only yourself and illegals! Disgusted with you and others you work with.
Schumer has faced outrage from both sides of the aisle after he voted to shut down the government because the stop-gap funding bill did not provide protections for those in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and then agreed three days later to open it back up with minimal protections for DACA recipients.
It will be interesting to see whether the discontent Schumer has sown will be reflected at the polls. He has been a U.S. senator since 1998.
