Did Dem Rep. Hakeem Jeffries vote for Donald Trump? His own logic suggests he did

From the strange bedfellows file. As best as I can divine from a speech he delivered on the House floor on Monday, Rep. [score]Hakeem Jeffries[/score] (D.-N.Y.), a seeming Trump hater, is in actuality a secret admirer of The Donald and actually pulled the lever for him last November.

I know, it seems unlikely in view of some of Jeffries’s previous comments, which include the observation he made to cheers and applause at Boys and Girls High School in Brooklyn where he said:

While Jim Crow may be dead, he’s got some nieces and nephews that are alive and well. And a few of them are running around 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

So where is the proof in his remarks Monday that he is a closet Trump supporter? It is inherent in a line from the speech in which he said, “I’m not here to say that every American who voted for Donald Trump is a racist, but I do know that every racist in America voted for Donald Trump.” He’s made that claim before, but apparently finds it so clever that he repeated it again on Monday and even tweeted it out from his official Twitter account for those unlucky enough to miss the live performance:

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Think about Jeffries’s “syllogism.” The only conclusion that can be drawn is that if every racist in America voted for Donald Trump, then Hakeem Jeffries voted for Donald Trump.

If you’re missing the logical connection, let me spell it our for you. In its broadest sense, racism can be defined as “prejudice or bias against another group to whom you feel superior.” If we go back to that speech Jeffries found it appropriate to deliver to an audience of impressionable children, we find this:

We have basically gone from a situation where we had an progressive attorney general in in Eric Holder to a progressive attorney general in Loretta Lynch to a disaster and a ‘good-ole boy’ in Jeff Sessions. Obviously, we’ve turned back the clock.

Notice that in Jeffries’s mind, the righteousness of his opinions is so obvious that he doesn’t need to elaborate on or explain them. In his world, Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch were great attorneys general, while Jeff Sessions is something short of that. I won’t go so far as to say that Jeffries’s admiration for Holder and Lynch is rooted in the fact that both are black, but it should be clear to any impartial observer that the congressman’s views are biased or prejudiced in favor of a group of which he is a member: To wit, progressive Democrats. This makes Jeffries a racist.

Ergo, if every racist in America voted for Donald Trump, then Hakeem Jeffries voted for Donald Trump.
