Employees of Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q in Raleigh, N.C., can no doubt sleep secure tonight in the knowledge that the brave men and women of the city’s police department will be there are serve and protect them should the situation warrant. That knowledge comes in spite of the obscene and gratuitous behavior the staff of that restaurant demonstrated last Friday when they sang the lyrics “F*ck the police” to local law enforcement dining in the restaurant.
ABC affiliate WTVD notes that a post appeared on the Raleigh Police Protective Association’s Facebook page, which follows:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Rick Armstrong, a member of the association, was interviewed, telling reporters:
Police officers go out there every day and they risk their lives and to be treated with such disrespect is truly unfortunate.
The owner of the franchise, David Harris, has promised a “thorough investigation” and said he will “terminate anyone employed that doesn’t share our respect of all law enforcement.”
That’s all well and good, but how does it help change the attitude cultivated over the Obama years that police are the enemy and deserving of scorn?
