Shorter Raven-Symoné: I am moving to Canada.
As CNN notes, Raven-Symoné — that’s one name, and the acute accent is silent(!) — said on Friday’s show, “I literally bought my ticket” and will take up residence in Canada “if any Republican gets nominated” for president. Since every candidate running for the Republican nomination is a registered Republican, the chances of a Republican not getting nominated is 0%.
Co-host Joy Behar, whom nothing gets past, right away noticed a problem with Raven-Symoné’s statement. But not the problem stated above. Instead Behar pointed out that Raven-Symoné is not a Canadian citizen. Another member of the panel, Candace Cameron Bure, enriched the conversation by adding that Raven-Symoné would need a visa to work in Canada.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Raven-Symoné is not the only TV celebrity who intends to leave the U.S. for political reasons. On Thursday, Al Sharpton reported that he, too, has reserved his “ticket to get out of here” if Donald Trump is the nominee.
In the video of his remarks, Sharpton betrays an equally tenuous grasp on American civics, stating that a President Trump would “probably have me deported anyway.” If deportation of American citizens were an option available to a president, Barack Obama would have deported more than half the country by now.
