NYDN doubles down on outrageous cover with gun-grabbing headline

It’s pathetic that a mass shooting that claimed 14 lives has turned into a political football and a sign of how far our nation has fallen in recent years.

Barack Obama deserves much of the blame for this — his divisive rhetoric, snarky behavior, and closed-mindedness have created a them-vs.-us atmosphere — but the mainstream media, which helped get him elected in the first place, shares responsibility for this noxious climate.

Obama set the bar low yesterday when he said in the face of compelling evidence that the San Bernardino shooters were radicalized Muslims that it’s possible that the shootings were “work-related.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

But his refusal to face the facts and accept an act of radical Islamic terrorism for what it is was matched by New York’s Daily News, which published an obscene cover that warned in giant letters that “God isn’t fixing this,” explaining in its subhead:

As latest batch of innocent Americans are [sic] left lying in pools of blood, cowards who could truly end gun scourge continue to hide behind meaningless platitudes.

You genuinely have to wonder how the editors would have pitched the story if, instead of long guns, the terrorist couple had brought along and detonated the 12 pipe bombs authorities found in their house.

No matter. Today we all know better … or so you’d think. Think again. Here is the Daily News cover out today:

I suppose the editors of this shameful rag deserve some small credit. Notice they include the advice “The News says,” which is an indication they are willing to own the message, no matter how wrong-headed it is.
