When it is time to vote again, here is hoping that the people of Colorado will remember Democratic State Sen. Morgan Carroll’s incredibly rude reaction to a question posed by one of her constituents at a town hall last weekend. There is no doubt that the questioner will remember.
The questions was about the closing of the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay and the disposition of the remaining detainees.
A transcript follows and beneath that is a video of the exchange:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Constituent: I was wondering, how do you feel about the Guantanamo Bay prisoners being brought here and President Obama bypassing Congress in order to close Guantanamo Bay?
Carroll: So, we usually use this time for constituents instead of partisan political trackers.
Constituent: All right.
Carroll: [Forced smile] And so are there any other constituents with questions?
In case it isn’t clear, Carroll stepped all over herself by stonewalling a constituent asking a timely question while simultaneously claiming to answer only constituent questions. Forty-one Colorado sheriffs have publicly asked Obama to keep Gitmo terrorists out of Colorado. Why won’t Carroll? Instead of ignoring a constituent and continually dodging on an important issue to avoid taking a stand, Carroll should be willing to stand up to Obama and fight for the safety of Coloradans.
