“The power is in your hands.” “Do your part with your part.” Remember those tag lines. Both are for a product in development that is sure to gladden the hearts of the alternative energy-minded Obama administration and global warmists everywhere. The item, known as the “Wankband,” is a gadget that allows you to save the planet while simultaneously charging your cell phone.

The secret the behind the gadget? The power of “self-pleasuring.”

The Wankband is the brainchild of adult video site Pornhub, which explains that “every day, millions of hours of adult content are consumed online, wasting energy in the process and hurting the environment.”

As the promotional video below explains, the gadget is worn on the wrist and houses a USB port, which attaches to your phone. When the device moves up and down — as it would if you used it while, say, churning butter — electric current is generated and transferred to your phone.

The product is still in the development stages, though Pornhub is looking for volunteers to test the prototype. Not surprisingly, notes New Y0rk’s Daily News, the accessory has already formed a fan base.

It also has its own Twitter hashtag, #wankband. Here are some of the comments on that social media network:
