Secret service personnel who guarded the first family during the Clinton years now claim that being assigned to then-first lady Hillary Clinton was considered “the worst form of punishment” because of her condescending, dismissive treatment of agents, an explosive new book alleges.
“Agents say being on Hillary Clinton’s detail is the worst duty assignment in the Secret Service,” writes Ron Kessler in his forthcoming book, The First Family Detail, according to the Daily Mail. “Being assigned to her detail is a form of punishment.”
One former uniformed officer recalled the first lady telling him to “F*** off” in response to his cheerful “Good morning, ma’am.”
“Hillary was so mistrustful and vengeful,” a former agent told Kessler.
‘“We were basically told, the Clintons don’t want to see you, they don’t want to hear you, get of the way,” according to a former Secret Service agent.
Yet she seemed to have something to say to the agents, and reportedly told one that his suit looked “cheap.”
But the Hillary wrath wasn’t limited to just the agents — almost everyone felt the sting of her rage.
“She was just really rude to almost everybody,” former Secret Service agent Lloyd Bulman said. “She’d act like she didn’t want you around, like you were beneath her.”
When she disagreed with a legal opinion offered by White House deputy counsel Vince Foster, she humiliated him in a meeting, “stating he would never be more than a hick-town lawyer and wasn’t ready for the big time,” the Mail reported. Foster committed suicide in June, 1993.
“The put-down that she gave him in that big meeting just pushed him over the edge,” claimed former FBI agent Coy Copeland.
A Clinton staffer became the object of her fury when she was taken to a 4-F Club event in upstate New York during her Senatorial run. Enraged at seeing nothing but cattle and people in jeans, she asked, “What the f*** did we come her for? There’s no money here.”
Even her powerful husband — then president of the United States — felt the sting. The Mail reported:
And her nasty attitude goes all the way back to early days at the White House when Hillary and President Bill Clinton stepped out of Marine One helicopter and crossed the lawn holding hands.
But that was all for show. Once they were out of the public eye, it was a scream fest between the couple.
The First Family Detail is the fourth recently published book that paints an unflattering picture of the Clinton clan. It will be available Tuesday, Aug. 5.
The other three books are Edward Klein’s Blood Feud: The Clintons vs. The Obamas, and The Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper’s Clinton, Inc., both of which are reportedly out-selling Clinton’s own book, Hard Choices, and Within Arm’s Length: A Secret Service Agent’s Inside Account of Protecting the President, by Dan Emmett, another former Secret Service agent.
