CNN anchor can’t accept fact Supreme Court rebuked Obama for power grab

Yesterday’s 9-0 Supreme Court ruling was the thirteenth time the high court has ruled unanimously against the Obama administration since 2012. Yet for some observers on the left, this most recent defeat is simply too hard to bear.

Count CNN anchor Carol Costello among their numbers. The Daily Caller notes that Costello was so intent on seeing this setback over recess appointments as a win for the White House that she tried to get legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin to recant his considered opinion.

Toobin wouldn’t bite, gently but firmly informing the disappointed anchor there’s “no doubt” the president lost.

But Costello couldn’t accept the defeat. “So as usual, Jeffrey Toobin, this is a more complicated decision,” she said. “It’s just not black and white. Cause I guess you could say the president lost . . . but did he?”

“Yeah, he lost,” Toobin replied quickly. “There’s no doubt.”

“Well he lost in this particular case,” she admitted plaintively. “But overall, right?”

“Well . . . no, he lost overall,” Toobin insisted. “I mean, there’s no question this is a win for Congress and a defeat for President Obama.”

If Costello is having this much trouble accepting reality, how will she handle the November midterm elections if, as many expect, the GOP claims a Senate majority?
