Barack Obama has never assigned a truth rating to his administration’s response to the raid on the American consulate in Benghazi in 2012, so it is unknown whether he believes there is not a smidgen of corruption. A new CNN/ORC poll does assign a numerical value to that response.
A sample of more than a thousand Americans was asked, “When it comes to providing information about the Benghazi attack, do you think the Obama administration has generally been honest or dishonest?” Thirty-seven percent said they believe the White House was honest, while 61% said it was dishonest. Two percent of those queried had no opinion.
The group was also asked about the GOP’s handling of its investigation of what went down. Despite Obama’s repeated claim that this is a “phony scandal” and that the American people would prefer to focus on jobs, the climate, or some other issue, 48% of those surveyed said Republicans have “handled hearings … appropriately,” while 44% said they had “gone too far.”
