The chart both comes from Public Opinion Strategies by way of the WaPo’s Chris Cillizza, whose titled I have borrowed.
Cillizza tries to set his readers’ minds at ease by noting that the polling firm is Republican (which is frankly irrelevant anyway, as I’m sure he knows) but observes in the same breath the data are taken from an NBC-Wall Street Journal April survey, which is non-partisan.
There is no way of sugar-coating this no matter how you slice it.
