Malaysian Muslims angered: Witch doctor called in on missing jet search

Child brides and executing rape victims ignored, but THIS embarrasses them …

At times, the only thing in life that makes sense is when someone calls in a witch doctor. Case in point, in the wake of a 777 jetliner virtually disappearing off the face of the earth, Malaysian Airlines has reportedly calling in a local witch doctor, much to the chagrin of local Muslims, as reported by the International Business Times, Australia Edition on March 15, 2014, and the New York Daily News on March 13, 2014.

Touted as the “king of the local witch doctors,” Ibrahim Mat Zin made an appearance at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport to perform a ritual that was supposed to assist officials in locating the missing airliner, along with the 239 crew members and passengers. Armed with a cane, coconuts, a magic carpet, bamboo binoculars, and other voodoo accouterments, Doctor Zin and friends did that voodoo that they do so well in order to “weaken the bad spirits so the rescuers can find the plane if it indeed has crashed.”

Never mind the beheadings and acid attacks …

Muslims in the Southeast Asian nation are particularly vexed with the shaman’s antics, because they “embarrass the Malaysian Muslims and seem to make a mockery of proper Islamic teachings.”

The nation’s political opposition leader, Datuk Seri Anwar, stated, “Can’t you see how stupid we look in the eyes of the world?” Failing to follow up on his threat, “Zaifullah Jaafar Shidek, Sepang district enforcement chief of the Selangor Islamic Religious Department, threatened to disperse or arrest anyone who would go to the airport to perform their own ritual.”

Zin prophesied that the missing jet was in “alam bunian” a Malayan folk-description for the spiritual world. The bamboo bespectacled soothsayer also went out on a limb when he foresaw, “I think the plane is still in the air or has crashed into the sea.”
