Granted, Angela Merkel is chancellor of the country that was once controlled by Adolf Hitler, but give let’s peace a chance. Merkel is in Israel to lobby on behalf of American-led efforts to broker a deal between Israelis and Palestinians.
The photo below was taken during a meeting on Monday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who obviously has misgivings about the talks — perhaps justifiably. Merkel’s visit comes amid growing calls in Europe for a boycott against Israel over its settlements in the West Bank.
