When it comes to global warming, climate change, or whatever the theorists are calling it this these days, the mainstream media will report exactly what they are being fed without question. That is what was done on Tuesday in USA Today in an article that asked “How fast is the Earth’s climate actually changing?”
Two “abrupt” impacts that can be definitively linked to climate change, the report said, are a rapid decline in sea ice over the past decade and increased extinction pressure on plant and animal species.
How quickly parts of the Earth’s climate are changing in response to added greenhouse gases and what’s forecast for decades ahead is a mixed bag, a federal advisory council says in a report out Tuesday.

Specifically, the report noted that late summer Arctic sea ice extent has decreased substantially since the satellite data record began in 1979, and has been particularly low over the past seven summers.
There are two slight problems with this claim. First is the report that the Arctic sea ice area is at its highest level since 2003.
Second is Steven Goddard’s September report that every day for the last 23 months, Antarctic sea ice has been above normal. At that time the Antarctic was 13,100 Manhattans above normal.
As for abrupt impacts on animals and plants, ’biologically important climate attributes — such as the number of frost-free days, length and timing of growing seasons, and the frequency and intensity of extreme events — are changing so rapidly that some species can neither move nor adapt fast enough.’
But wait a second. Even the IPCC, the UN’s climate change cabal, is saying that there has been a 16-year pause in global warming, so why is that happening now?
The answer is that it isn’t happening. The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) reports that world rice harvests for 2012 – 2013 were a record 469 million metric tons. Corn and wheat harvests were also strong, following record harvests for both grains during the same period. The USDA is now projecting world record harvests for corn, wheat, and rice for 2013 – 2014.
But back to the USA Today report:
On the other hand, the study finds that some potential threats ‘are unlikely to take place over the near term.’ These include quick changes in ocean current circulation, destabilization of the Antarctic ice sheet [why because it is expanding too fast], and a rapid release of methane and carbon that’s currently trapped in northern ice and permafrost soil.
The probability of changes or disruptions to ocean currents, specifically one that was made infamous in the 2004 movie The Day after Tomorrow in which the climate changed dramatically in a matter of days, ‘is now understood to be low,’ the report noted. The same is true for concerns about rapid sea level rise from the melting of the Antarctic ice sheet, as well as the quick release of methane, a greenhouse gas that’s locked in permafrost in the far north.
I never realized that expanding caps can release methane. I thought it was caused by cows and my brother eating too much pizza.
The real reason for the report covered in USA today was to request more government:
‘Evaluating climate changes and impacts in terms of their potential magnitude and the likelihood they will occur will help policymakers and communities make informed decisions about how to prepare for or adapt to them,’ he added.
‘The time has come for us to quit talking and take action,’ White said at a news conference in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday.
That is the real reason for the global warming hoax: Bigger government and worldwide redistribution of income:
Australia’s Prime Minister Tony Abbott, elected recently to undo the damage of a carbon tax, told the Washington Post ‘Despite a carbon tax of $37 a ton by 2020, Australia’s domestic emissions were going up, not down. The carbon tax was basically socialism masquerading as environmentalism and that’s why it’s going to get abolished.’
Come on USA Today: It’s not nice to try to fool Mother Nature.
