I don’t profess to be knowledgeable enough about the “game” of “Knockout” to speak with any authority about the scoring. Obviously, if the “player” takes down a strapping young male in one punch, he is awarded bonus points. But how many points do you get for knocking down a 78-year old great grandma? Is that worth like a quarter point? Do you get a negative score?

An individual fitting that description was the target of the hilarious teen prank of sneaking up behind a random pedestrian and trying to fell the person. The Huffington Post reports via CBS New York that the elderly woman’s daughter told police her mother “was walking along in broad daylight when a young African-American male knocked her down. He didn’t take anything, she said, and didn’t seem interested in anything but hitting her as hard as he could before running off.”

She had her purse, she had bags from department stores. There was not even an attempt to take anything from her. It was just a wanton act to hurt another human being.

CBS notes that the brazen acts are spreading and that police are investigating the possibility of classifying the attacks as hate crimes.

As reported previously, a recent spate of attacks occurred in the once-largely Jewish and now-largely black Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, prompting a cross-racial community meeting. According to CBS, “many present said young African-Americans need to be educated about such bias crimes.”

“We need to engage these young people and engage their parents,” Rev. Taharka Robinson of the Brooklyn Anti-Violence Coalition is quoted as saying. Assemblyman Dov Hikind countered with the proposal that more arrests be made, adding, “That would be the best education in the world.”
