ITIN de facto amnesty empowers Obama IRS to buy votes

AmnestyOutraged that illegal aliens claimed child-tax-credits, but no outrage that current tax law allows them to report income and pay taxes without threat of deportation?

The power of a president to succumb to the temptation to use executive power for political purposes has always been available. That the current occupant of the Oval Office is so uniquely brazen in betraying the trust inherent in the office should compel future voters to insist upon a much smaller and less intrusive federal government:

While harrying and stalling tea party groups seeking nonprofit status, the Internal Revenue Service mailed $4.2 billion in child-credit checks to undocumented immigrants. Critics say midlevel IRS bureaucrats continue to abuse the Additional Child Tax Credit program by dispensing $1,000 checks to families in this country illegally.

“The law needs clarification that undocumented immigrants are not eligible,” Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, told Watchdog.org in a statement. To make Congress’ intent clear – that only legal U.S. residents are entitled to ACTC credits — Grassley co-sponsored a clarifying amendment with Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wy.

But…

Watchdog reported in June that disbursement of ACTC credits has grown rapidly — and suspiciously — with increased issuance of Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers as substitutes for Social Security numbers.

ITIN holders are not required to prove legal residency, and ITIN applications are running at the rate of 1 million a year. (Emphasis added)

Notice that Senators Grassley  and Enzi don’t propose to end the ITIN law that allows illegals to file tax returns. Notice that they don’t propose to make clear that any of the other thousands of deductions and credits that reduce taxable income do not apply to illegals. I did.

To be clear, I have favored NON-VOTING-RIGHTS amnesty for several years given the de facto amnesty that has existed for decades that encouraged illegals to enter the mostly-Republican cheap-labor force and vote for Democrats without photo IDs. This was before the Obama Administration employed the IRS to castrate tea party conservatives before the 2012 election.

Vague laws passed by Congress have long been the rule, whether they applied to subvert political free speech or outlaw jobs for humans in favor of snail darters. Republicans should be ashamed for going along with them. But under President Barack Obama we have seen outright usurpation of constitutional legislative power by executive fiat to subvert un-vague laws to issue deep water-oil drilling moratoriums, end welfare-work requirements and exempt the political class from Obamacare.

We have seen the rise of Food Stamp Nation under Obama despite no changes in eligibility thanks to his affirmative action program to recruit government dependents loyal to the Democratic Party.

But yes GOP, please try to pass a “clarification” to deny child-credits to illegals. After all, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has promised perpetual surrender on government shutdowns, so Republicans will obviously “win” this battle, eh? Even if Obama doesn’t blame a couple of “low-level” operatives, as he did the targeting of conservatives last year:

BTW, were Grassley and Enzi vocal defenders of Sen. Ted Cruz last week when a fellow Republican was trying to make significant change that actually affects Americans’ lives? Didn’t think so.
