Ted Cruz effort to defund ObamaCare resonates with Americans, but not the media

If you are paying attention to the trainwreck that is ObamaCare, you likely feel as frustrated as many Americans who feel that their voices are not being heard in this debate.

From the beginning, ObamaCare was shoved down America’s collective throat. Supporters of ObamaCare have their hearts in the right place. They were sold when President Obama insisted that ObamaCare would ensure that vulnerable populations would now have access to affordable healthcare. Who wouldn’t want that?

But that was never what ObamaCare was about. The goal was always socialized medicine, yet another creep of “stealth socialism” that is now all but openly embraced by the ideologues, and supported fully by the Low Information Voters who just don’t know better, empowered by the complicit mainstream media, whose journalists consist of university-indoctrinated fresh-faced supporters of President Obama.

When Wendy Davis stood on the senate floor in Texas, fighting to ensure that babies could continue to be aborted after 20 weeks gestation, the Democrats and the mainstream media cheered! The coverage of Ted Cruz today is yet another glaring example of how biased the mainstream media has become while Americans were looking the other way.

Consider the headline by the Huffington Post when Wendy Davis gave her filibuster:

Huffington Post

Clearly, all semblance of objectivity flew out the window a long time ago.

David McCumber of  The Houston Chronicle reported today that Ted Cruz is using the occasion in part “to raise his own national profile.” He also was able to take breaks, the author said, as colleagues would ask “lengthy and often windy” questions. Wendy Davis, though, had no such advantage! She “had to talk continuously,” and her filibuster was much more effective, the author argues, as “remarks delayed final state Senate action on the abortion bill, forcing Texas Gov. Rick Perry to call another special session to enact the disputed measure.”

While “Cruz’ remarks,” on the other hand,

“showed no sign of changing the outcome of the vote in the Democratic-led Senate on House-passed legislation that would continue federal operations beyond Oct. 1 and defund Obamacare. Cruz’ GOP allies in the Senate do not appear to have enough votes to win Senate approval of language that would end spending on implementation of the Affordable Care Act.”

David McCumber writes, and one could just imagine his nose reaching the ceiling in a sniffle as he says,

“Cruz is banking that [his speech]…will pay off” by giving him “a boost for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination…”

Really??? Really? Did Ted Cruz tell McCumber this?

The author must be a psychic. He knows the outcome won’t have an impact and he also knows what Ted Cruz’ motivations are. He reports it as fact!

Dylan Byers of Politico collected some of the comments,

Cruz is portrayed in the media as “aimless and self-destructive” (NYT ed board), elitist (GQ) and likely guided more by presidential aspirations than principles (CNN). Josh Marshall, the editor and publisher of Talking Points Memo, had no qualms about coming right out and calling Cruz, his former Princeton colleague, an “arrogant jerk” — and worse.

Timothy Carney of the Washington Examiner observes,

The typical mainstream spin on this: It’s grandstanding! He’s just raising money! Fauxlibuster!

Liberty Unyielding‘s Joe Newby wrote today,

“While appearing on Wednesday’s edition of “Morning Joe,” Chris Matthews compared Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, to Hitler…”

To Hitler? lol.

Three things are heartening, though.

  1. #MakeDCListen, #KeepCruzing, #StandWithCruz, #TedCruz, #DefundObamaCare, and other similar hashtags have been trending like mad on Twitter!
  2. Many have taken notice of the bias. The Ted Cruz versus Wendy Davis coverage is too blatant to ignore. Admittedly, the Low Information Voter likely has no clue, but they are a lost cause anyway.
  3. The Republican Senators who have been openly bashing Ted Cruz are getting quite a bit of heat for their stance. The message is loud and clear. Americans are sick of the GOP establishment. New York Republican Rep. Peter King, for example, called Ted Cruz a “fraud,” and sickeningly said he was committing ‘governmental terrorism,’ as reported today by Caroline May of the Daily Caller.

If you are sick of the establishment, read Sara Marie Brenner’s piece in the Washington Times Communities. She lists the GOP Senators who are for, and against, the effort to defund ObamaCare. Call their offices, Tweet to them, tell them how you feel. And for the love of Pete, do not re-elect them.
