Democrats snag Republican icon for their website

Voting Rights DNCAs the Democrat-introduced bill to amend the Constitution starts to pick up steam in liberal circles, as reported by Janai S. Nelson of the Reuters news service on Sept. 17, 2013, the official website for the Democratic Party has embraced the image of at least one Republican icon in their move considered by many conservatives as yet another Democrat attempt to squash states rights.

However, in their haste, the Democrats have utilized the image of President Abraham Lincoln to further their stated agenda of furthering a proposed amending of the Constitution. The Rail Splitter happened to have been the first Republican elected President of the United States.

Even though claimed by both sides as one of their own, the primary website for the Democrats also ran with the image of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Although the younger Reverend King never publicly declared which, if any political party he belonged to, the National Black Republican Association gave a strong argument as to why the junior would have followed the Rev. Martin Luther King, Sr. into the ranks of the GOP:

During the civil rights era of the 1960’s, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. fought to stop Democrats from denying civil rights to blacks.

It should come as no surprise that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican as has been affirmed by his niece, Dr. Alveda C. King.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. would not have joined the Democratic Party, the party of the Ku Klux Klan and segregation.

Dr. King fought against Democrat Public Safety Commissioner Eugene “Bull” Connor in Birmingham who let loose vicious dogs and turned skin-burning fire hoses on black civil rights demonstrators.

Democrat Georgia Governor Lester Maddox famously brandished ax handles to prevent blacks from patronizing his restaurant. Democrat Alabama Governor George Wallace blocked the entrance of two black students at the University of Alabama in 1963 and thundered, “Segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever.” All of these racist Democrats remained Democrats until the day they died. In fact, racist Democrats declared that they would rather vote for a “yellow dog” than a Republican because the Republican Party was known as the party for blacks.

Change…

Congressmen Mark Pocan (D-WI) and Keith Ellison (D-MN) are introducing legislation that would begin the process of adding to the Constitution their “Right to Vote Amendment” which would effectively end any future voter ID laws.

The Democratic Party’s secondary official website hammered the GOP for the recent Supreme Court ruling that struck down Section 4 of the almost half-century-old Voting Rights Act of 1965 that effectively placed a number of states, mostly Southern, under the thumb of the federal government regarding the formulation of various state-wide voting regulations.

As stated by the Dems:

If a voter does not have a government-issued ID, they will be forced to go through a lengthy process to gain access to the polls. This law will affect thousands of Alabamians and prevent them from exercising their fundamental right as Americans.

Also stated on their website: “Republicans want to make it harder to vote” although it was no Republican legislation that dumped Section 4, but a ruling by the Supreme Court whose members answer to no political party or leadership.
