When asked on CBS’s “60 Minutes” about his response to the September 11, 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Barack Obama answered by way of a humorous anecdote.
Host Steve Kroft asked the question of both the chief executive and outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. After a diatribe on a topic that was totally unrelated, Obama finally got around the answering:
You know, I remember [former Secretary of Defense] Bob Gates, you know, first thing he said to me, I think maybe first week or two that I was there and we were meeting in the Oval Office and he, obviously, been through seven presidents or something. And he says, ‘Mr. President, one thing I can guarantee you is that at this moment, somewhere, somehow, somebody in the federal government is screwing up.’
His response brought guffaws of laughter from the woman many consider to be the frontrunner in the battle for the 2016 Democratic Presidential primaries.
