Trump’s Ex-Labor Secretary Fancied Strip Clubs, Abused Public Office Investigation Finds
By Derek Vanbuskirk
Trump’s ex-Labor Secretary, Lori Chavez-DeRemer, abused her office and frequented strip clubs, a Thursday investigative report by the Department of Labor’s (DOL) Office of Inspector General (OIG) found.
The report followed an anonymous complaint alleging that Chavez-DeRemer had contributed to a hostile work environment, had engaged in inappropriate relationships with someone in the office, failed to comply with established travel regulations, regularly drank alcohol at the DOL offices while working, had subordinates perform tasks to her personal benefit, and did not report gifts that she had accepted. The report concluded that Chavez-DeRemer’s conduct was “inconsistent with applicable standards” across all six of these areas.
One example shared in the report said that during a personal trip to Oregon in April 2025, Chavez-DeRemer had requested an off-the-record detour to an “establishment that was determined upon entry to feature partially nude dancers.”
There, Chavez-DeRemer invited her limousine driver and the Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAIC), who the anonymous complaint alleged she was having an inappropriate relationship with, into the strip club, before she pulled money out of her purse and requested that the driver shower the bills one by one onto the partially nude woman.
After added pressure from the ASAIC, “The agent complied against his wishes,” the report says.

Another witness said that on another trip, Chavez-DeRemer gave ASAIC a shoulder massage while sitting behind him in the car after he finished driving. After asking if he was tired, ASAIC allegedly told Chavez-DeRemer that he was “solid as a rock” before the two started laughing.
The ASAIC was placed on paid temporary administrative leave in February while under investigation for potential misconduct. He was later placed on unpaid investigative leave in February before resigning in March.
During the unpaid leave, an OIG agent conducting surveillance over the residential building in which Chavez-DeRemer resided saw someone matching ASAIC enter the building at 9:32 p.m. The man was not seen leaving the building by the time the agents’ surveillance ended at 11 p.m., the report said.

The report also says that Chavez-DeRemer’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Rebecca Wright, was reported to have contributed to creating a hostile work environment.
Witnesses alleged that Wright would often comment on the appearance, race, and sexual orientation of employees, and had evaluated applicants based on those factors. Wright had allegedly moved the desk of an employee as she did not want a “fat person” visible from the front office.
Witnesses also said that Wright had told a female employee not to cut her hair too short as to avoid “turning into a lesbian,” while another said that Wright had discouraged an employee from using the DOL daycare center due to the race of the caregivers.
Chavez-DeRemer resigned as Secretary of Labor this past April. Assistant to the President and White House Director of Communications Steven Cheung, who announced the news, said she left to take a position in the private sector.
“She has done a phenomenal job in her role by protecting American workers, enacting fair labor practices, and helping Americans gain additional skills to improve their lives,” Cheung said.
Reports showed that Chavez-DeRemer had been difficult to appoint.
