Kamala Harris’s latest: Let’s seize the guns of ‘white nationalists’

Gun seizure is unconstitutional, as Kamala Harris, a former California attorney general, is no doubt aware. But as Harris demonstrated in her claim this week that Ferguson, Mo., teenager Michael Brown was “murdered,” when in fact the Obama Justice Department ruled that the death resulted from a struggle for a police officer’s gun, she has little regard for the law these days.

Besides, as she would be the first to tell you, she’s not seeking to seize everyone’s guns — not for now, anyway. USA Today explains:

The Democratic presidential candidate’s proposal calls for the creation of “domestic terrorism prevention orders” that would give law enforcement and family members of suspected white nationalists or domestic terrorists the ability to petition a federal court to temporarily restrict a person’s access to guns if the person exhibits clear evidence of being a danger.

“We need to take action to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people and stop violent, hate-fueled attacks before they happen,” Harris said. “By focusing on confronting these domestic terror threats, we can save lives.”

But as Conservative Firing Line’s Faye Higbee notes, Harris’s argument is headed down the slipperiest of slopes:

But who are the “white nationalists” she’s talking about? Who will determine what that means? Thus far, it has been a trend for Democrats and liberals to call ALL white folks racist and everyone a “white nationalist.” …

In fact, one member of Congress is so positive the president is a racist and white nationalist that she announced last week that the debate (like that surrounding global warming) was closed:
