Obama will be remembered as one of worst foreign policy presidents ever … say liberals

Liberal Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz does not often agree with conservatives, but in a recent interview with Fox News he said that Barack Obama just “stabbed Israel in the back” and will go down in history “as one of the worst foreign policy presidents ever.” While I completely agree with Dershowitz’s assessment, it comes as quite a shock to hear a liberal utter such strident criticism of Obama.

Dershowitz also explained that while the situation looked bleak, there was a glimmer of hope to hang on to as President-elect Trump would no doubt work hard to deliver a peace deal in the Middle East.

What he did was so nasty, he pulled a bait and switch. He told the American public this is all about the settlements deep in the West Bank. And yet, he allowed he representative to the U.N. to abstain –which is really a vote for– a resolution that says the Jews can’t pray at the Western Wall, Jews can’t live in the Jewish where they have lived for thousands of years… And he’s going to say, ‘Whoops! I didn’t mean that!’ Well read the resolution! You’re a lawyer, you went to Harvard Law School…

He called me into the Oval Office before the inauguration — he said he wanted my support, and he told me he would always have Israel’s back. I didn’t realize what he meant: That he would have Israel’s back so he could stab them in the back.

This will make peace much more difficult to achieve because the Palestinians will now say ‘we can get a state through the UN.’

Dershowitz wasn’t the only liberal condemning Obama’s anti-Israel behavior. Rep. [score]Eliot Engel[/score] (D-N.Y.) also decried the Obama administration’s decision to abandon our Israeli friends.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Engel argued that the decision not to veto the resolution was a “parting shot” against Israel from Obama, who allowed himself to be used as a tool by despots against democratic Israel.

Israel cannot get a fair shake in the United Nations. They have all of these countries against them. The Arab countries, all these undemocratic countries that have the gall to point the finger at Israel.

You know, people who criticize Israel and use all kinds of terms, they should go to Israel. There is a vibrant state, a stable democracy, people of all races, people of all religions together, living in freedom, The kind of freedom we’re used to in the United States. So it’s singling out Israel when the United Nations is made of nations of tyrants that no democracy. It’s just hypocritical.

If the United States goes along with it then what kind of body is the United Nations? Why should Israel care about anything the United Nations says when it can’t get a fair shake? [Emphasis added]

It’s not often that we agree with a pair of liberal Democrats… but on this issue, both Engel and Dershowitz are right.

Of course it was Dershowitz’s endorsement (and that of the late mayor of New York Ed Koch) that helped Obama dominate the Jewish vote in each of his presidental runs, so some of the credit needs to revoked.
