While appearing at a Memphis library with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., gave Americans a verbal middle finger when he told those upset with Obamacare to “get over it,” the National Journal reported Friday.

“Change is hard. Get over it. Barack Obama is president, and the Affordable Care Act is the law,” he said, dismissing concerns many have about the flawed legislation that has seen millions lose their health coverage despite Obama’s repeated statements to the contrary.

Cohen, the Journal said, invited Sebelius to the library.

“I don’t pay a lot of attention to these early reports, because the system was flawed,” she said, brushing off reports that only six people signed up for Obamacare coverage on the first day of operation.

It was at this meeting that Sebelius was handed a copy of “Websites for Dummies” by GOP state Sen. Brian Kelsey.

According to Sebelius, the flaws are a result of demand, but a number of others, including security experts, say the problems are far worse than that, and some have called for a complete rebuild of the system.

Liberals, however, have blamed the Koch brothers, the Tea Party and Republicans for the failures. Some have actually embraced tin-foil hat conspiracy theories involving the Koch brothers and the Tea Party.

Cohen, for example, recently called members of the Tea Party “domestic enemies” — the kind he swore an oath to defend the Constitution from.

“They think they’re some kind of guerrillas there to strike a blow for freedom. I think they may try to pull this off again. What John Boehner is going to have to do is decide that he’s not going to be Speaker in 2015 and work with the same crew that gave us the opening-up of government: Nancy Pelosi’s Democratic caucus and give or take 80 reasonable Republicans and pass some bills to avoid another CR problem and shutdown and avoid the debt crisis, protect the country from these people, who really, you got to think, we take an oath to support the country against all enemies foreign and domestic, and these are the domestic enemies,” he said as part of his effort to foment violence against conservatives.

In January 2011, the Tennessee liberal compared Republicans to Nazi propagandist Josef Goebbels.

“They don’t like the truth so they summarily dismiss it,” he said. “They say it’s a government takeover of healthcare. A big lie just like [Nazi propaganda minister Joseph] Goebbels. You say it enough and you repeat the lie, repeat the lie, repeat the lie until eventually people believe it. Like blood libel, that’s the same kind of thing.”

Recently, reports have shown that Obama and the Democrats have known for years Obamacare would force Americans out of their current insurance, but continued to lie to the American public anyway.

Instead of apologizing to constituents and offering to resign, Cohen decided to take the “let them eat cake” approach and tell his constituents to “get over it.”
