It’s actually been a while since someone with both feet planted firmly in the mainstream media essayed the indefensible argument that there is no bias in the the Left’s coverage of elections.
Even in your more-or-less typical election-year tug of war between good and evil (which side your on determines which is which), the argument would be a Sisyphan task because the MSM always leans left. But the 2016 election has presented the so-called elite media with a unique challenge at obfuscation in the form of a deluge of leaks that confirm Hillary Clinton is guilty of everything conservatives have accused her to be.
In spite of this storm, last night Chris Cillizza of The Washington Post and MSNBC tweeted emphatically that “reporters don’t root for a side”:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Let me say for the billionth time: Reporters don’t root for a side. Period. https://t.co/dhH8eherOR

If Cillizza had spoken for himself, claiming that he doesn’t root for a side, the claim would have been slightly less ludicrous. A number of his articles have been excerpted in our LU Web Crawler that reveal at least an internal struggle to come to term with some of Clinton’s limitations. So “impartial” has Cillizza come off at times that the far-left Media Matters for America and the even farther left Daily Kos attacked him in print in January, calling in the case of the latter for his firing by The Post.
But Cillizza went all in on his assertion and is now confronted with the mountain of evidence that demonstrates otherwise.
