It would be one thing — a crazy thing — to save taxpayers money by never bothering to go after illegal aliens suspected of committing crimes on U.S. soil. It is another, far crazier, thing to catch these people, try them, and then re-release those found guilty into the general population as though nothing ever happened.
Close to 20,000 illegals have been taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), found guilty of crimes that include (yes!) homicide, and then for reasons unexplained (by the Obama administration) set free.
Now, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee wants answers.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
According to a new report from the Center for Immigration Studies, Immigration and Customs Enforcement in 2015 “freed 19,723 criminal aliens, who had a total of 64,197 convictions among them.”
This included “8,234 violent convictions and 208 homicide convictions.”
ICE Director Sarah Saldana defended her agency, even characterizing the statistics as an improvement while claiming they were being politically manipulated.
There is nothing politically incorrect about releasing criminals who are in the country illegally and have committed over 200 murders, and allowing them to walk among law-abiding citizens and their children. That’s not impolitic, that’s just wrong.
