A defector from the terrorist organization ISIS told CNN’s Arwa Damon that the British member “Jihadi John” was possibly chosen to execute U.S. journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff to make other Westerners feel closer to their cause. It was all a recruiting tool.
“It is possible that the goal was to project the image that a European or a Western person executed an American so that they can showcase their Western members and appeal to others outside Syria and make them feel that they belong to the same cause and that they too can do anything in support of ISIS in their respective countries,” he said.
He said ISIS values Westerners in particular. After they have become traitors to their home country, they’re more willing to launch attacks against it.
“Since Western fighters joined ISIS they consider their home country as infidels,” he explained. “If they have a chance they will carry out attacks because they consider it an infidel country and it should be fought.”
And Westerners, including Americans, are finding their way to ISIS camps and outposts. According to Townhall:
News reports have shown that already Americans have been aiding the terrorist organization. Moner Mohammad Abusalha (Florida), Abdirahmaan Muhumed (Minnesota), and a 19-year-old woman are among the U.S. citizens who have been confirmed traitors.
