More marriages would make housing more affordable

“If marriage rates recovered to their 2000 level among working-age adults, 67 percent of new couples would be able to afford a home, up from 46 percent of those same adults while single. But young people may be reluctant to get married because there are massive marriage penalties in student financial aid programs, as is explained at this link.

One way to make housing more affordable would be to loosen zoning and building regulations that increase the cost of a home.
