The Trump administration delivered great news for Americans who want more affordable pickup trucks.
EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin announced on Wednesday that the Obama-era climate policy that created a slew of costly greenhouse gas regulations had been repealed after nearly two decades.
“The Trump EPA is expected to deliver Americans over $1.3 trillion in cost savings, which includes reduced costs for new vehicles and avoided costs of purchasing equipment related to EVs. This action will result in an average cost savings of over $2,400 per vehicle,” the EPA said in a press release. (RELATED: The Cost Of A Full-Size Pickup Truck Has Gotten Way Out Of Hand)

“By lowering vehicle and regulatory compliance costs, EPA is improving affordability and expanding consumer choice and ultimately advancing the American Dream by making it easier to reach jobs, grow small businesses, and participate fully in the transportation and logistics systems that power the U.S. economy,” the EPA said.
Stellantis, the major auto company that manufactures Dodge and Ram Trucks, also praised the new policy.
“Stellantis welcomes today’s decision, because it enables us to continue offering Americans a broad range of cars, trucks and SUVs — including BEVs, REEVs, hybrids and efficient internal combustion engines — that they want, need and can afford. We remain supportive of a rational, achievable approach on fuel economy standards that preserves our customers’ freedom of choice,” the company said. (RELATED: Tired Of $60,000 Pickups? This is the second big move the Trump administration has made to slash costly regulations and make cars and pickup trucks more affordable. In December, Trump eliminated a Biden-era fuel regulation for vehicles and paved the way for small, light pickup trucks to return to America. Hopefully, it will help reverse damage done by LBJ’s “Chicken Tax.”
Now, Trump just has to make the pickup truck America’s national vehicle, and we’ll be off to the races.
