“In response to the assassination of Charlie Kirk on Wednesday, various university faculty and staff have expressed views on Bluesky that appear to support his killing,” reports Campus Reform.
Some professors did not regard his death as a bad thing. “I do not, nor would I ever, mourn the actual ghoul himself,” said Professor Abigail Higgs of Morgan State University. He “lived…grotesquely.”
“Cancel your subscription,” said Professor Branden McEuen in response to newspapers criticizing the killing.
Syracuse University Professor Jenn Jackson said Kirk’s death was “in line with his own politics.”
Others on Bluesky falsely claimed that Charlie Kirk’s killer was a conservative or a Trump supporter. Kirk’s killer was a left-leaning young man with a transgender partner who was angry about what Kirk said about transgender rights and viewed him as hateful to transgender people. As ABC News reports, shooter “Tyler Robinson said he killed Charlie Kirk because he ‘spreads too much hate'” against transgender people. “In one message sent to his [transgender] roommate, who investigators say he was dating, Robinson allegedly said of Kirk: ‘I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out,'” reports Time Magazine.
Yet Berny Belvedere, the executive director of the Institute for the Study of Modern Authoritarianism, falsely claimed without any evidence that Kirk’s killer was a “Dan Bongino” style conservative Trump supporter. Berny Belvedere wrote on Bluesky that “We were assured that Kirk’s killer would be a genderfluid migrant who smuggled CRT tomes laced with fentanyl into the country, propelled by hatred of America and runaway wokeism. In reality, it turned out to be Dan Bongino in a bid to protect the president from an extended Epstein news cycle.” The Institute for the Study of Modern Authoritarianism has received $965,000 from the Hewlett Foundation, a left-wing foundation that launched an anti-capitalist campaign against “neoliberalism,” viewing the Democratic Party (and progressive think-tanks) as being too pro-free-market.
